Arabic Letter Ẓaa (ظ) Handwriting Worksheet

Ẓaa (ظ) is the seventeenth letter of the Arabic alphabet. It is pronounced as a heavy “th” like in “this”, said with the back of the tongue raised — a deeper version of Dhal (ذ).

Ẓaa is the Ṭaa loop and upright stroke with one dot beside the stroke. This worksheet practises all four positional forms — isolated (ظ), initial (ظـ), medial (ـظـ) and final (ـظ), with stroke-direction arrows to guide each movement.

You will find Ẓaa at the start of everyday words such as ظرف (envelope) and ظبي (gazelle). Writing tip: Finish the loop and upright stroke, then add the dot to the right of the stroke.
